The commemoration of the 55th Anniversary of AFIT was held on June 20, 2008.
The celebration was graced by presence of: President of the Republic of Poland Lech Kaczynski with his spouse, the last émigré President of the
Republic of Poland Ryszard Kaczorowski, Chief of General Staff Gen. Franciszek Gągor, Undersecretary of State in MoND Zenon Kosiniak-Kamysz, Air Force
Commander Lt. Gen. Andrzej Błasik and representatives of national and foreign military and civil universities and institutes.
The celebration was opened with unveiling of the commemorative plaque in honour of Polish aviation engineers. The plaque was unveiled by both Presidents,
who also put their names down in the Institute guest book.
President Kaczyński and President Kaczorowski attended the ceremonial session of the R&D Council, during which President Kaczorowski was awarded the
title of the honorary member of R&D Council.
Director General of AFIT Ryszard Szczepanik presented in his speech the latest achievements of the Institute and emphasized that industrial development
and technological progress depend on promoting and investing in our Polish engineers.
The session closed with the speech of President Kaczyński, who stressed AFIT's contribution in development of Polish aviation.
The official part of the event was continued on the Institute's airfield, where the outstanding employees of AFIT were given awards.
