Standardisation activity

Instytut Techniczny Wojsk Lotniczych (Air Force Institute of Technology) carries out their standardisation activity through the Military Centre of Scientific Information. Institute closely collaborates in this field with the Polish Standardisation Committee and the Military Centre for Standardisation, Quality, and Codification.

Institute's responsibilities are as follows:

  • running Secretariats of Sub-committee No. 6 for the Military Aviation dedicated Weapon Systems and Equipment, and Sub-committee No. 7 for Logistics (Uniforms and Food Supplies/Fuels and Lubricants),
  • submission of new standardisation-oriented topics to be included in MoD's one- and three-year's standardisation projects,
  • drafting defence standards and Polish standards in the field of defence and security of the State,
  • making amendments to these standards, assessment of topicality, level, and state of applicability of defence standards,
  • consultation on the standardisation activities.

Each year ITWL develops a dozen or so standardisation-oriented topics and lends several hundred standardisation documents. Standardisation resources of ITWL comprise approximately 3000 documents in the forms of Polish Standards (PN), Defence Standards (NO), NATO standardisation documents (STANAG, AAP, AQAP, and other ones), International Standards (ISO, IEC, ASTM, and other ones), European Standards (EN), and US military standards (MIL).
