Director General - Ret. Col. Ryszard SZCZEPANIK, Ph.D. D. Sc. Eng.

Ret. Col. Prof. Ryszard SZCZEPANIK, Ph.D. D. Sc. Eng., was born in September 27, 1945 in Lusławice. After finishing the secondary school in Częstochowa, he started studies at the Military University of Technology in Warsaw (WAT) at the faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Graduated in 1969, obtaining the academic title of Master of Science, specializing in aircraft and aero-engines. After graduation he started two-year commanding practice in the 56th Training Air Regiment in Tomaszów Mazowiecki where he served till 1972 - at various posts, from a flight group technician to squadron commander. In July 1972 he began his work at the Air Force Institute of Technology. Having a lieutenant rank, he was on the position of a senior laboratory engineer.
In 1978 he was conferred the Doctor of Science degree from the Military University of Technology in Warsaw at the faculty of Mechanical Engineering. In the meantime,
he participated in the professional training in the field of maintenance of the Su-20 aircraft.
He gradually moved up the ladder of his military and scientific career, working as: senior assistant, senior lecturer, manager of the laboratory for aero-engines testing, chief of the Division for Aero-Engines. In 1993 the received the rank of a colonel. Since 2004 he has been holding a position of the Director General of Air Force Institute of Technology. In 2011 Mr. Szczepanik was conferred the Higher Doctor of Science degree from the Institute of fluid-flow machinery - POLISH ACADEMY OF SCIENCES. By order of the President of the Republic of Poland dated 5 June 2014, he was appointed Professor of Technical Sciences.
He has organized and is an active participant of many international and national scientific symposiums and conferences.
Moreover, Ryszard Szczepanik is a well-known and valued specialist in the field
of maintenance and designing of aero-engines, as well as in systems of monitoring the technical condition and diagnostics of aero-engines. An author of many publications in scientific and technical periodicals. An author and co-author of fifty invention projects, including nineteen patents. He has got the title of the Inventor from the Polish Armed Forces. He holds diplomas of an interpreter of English and Russian languages. Also, he has
a good command of German.
He has organized and is an active participant of many international and national scientific symposiums and conferences.
An active member of NAFAG Group (NATO Air Force Armament Group) in Brussels, Polish representative in AVT FTO NATO Panel. In 1990-1992 was assigned to take part in the Peaceful Missions under the auspices of UN:
• 1990 - The Golan Heights - Camp Faouar - UNDOF - Polish Military Contingent Chief of logistics
• 1991 - 1992 - Kuwait, Iraq - UNIKOM Mission as a Military Transport Officer in UNIKOM HQ, Chief of Logistics in South Sector
• 1992 - June, July - Military Observer in Sarayevo - UNPROFOR Mission during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Ret. Col. Prof. Ryszard SZCZEPANIK, Ph.D. D. Sc. Eng. is married, wife Wanda, has two children Artur and Anna and three grandchildren.
