On April 8, 2026, the Air Force Institute of Technology (ITWL) hosted Ph.D. Eng. Sławosz Uznański – Wiśniewski, an astronaut with the European Space Agency - the second Pole in history to travel to space and the first Polish astronaut to stay aboard the International Space Station.
The astronaut was welcomed by the Director of ITWL, Professor Mirosław Kowalski, who introduced the Institute’s management team. Colonel Radosław Przysowa, a professor at ITWL, presented the Institute’s areas of activity as well as its current research and development projects.
During the meeting, Ph.D. Eng. Uznański-Wiśniewski shared his experiences from training at the European Astronaut Centre and spoke about the research he conducted in orbit during his mission aboard the International Space Station, including experiments carried out under microgravity conditions. The participants also discussed modern technologies emerging from orbital research as well as the potential of the Polish space sector.
The visit concluded with a commemorative photo and an entry in the Guest Book.
